Melon & Turmeric Tofu Skewers

These Melon Tofu Skewers are a vibrant appetizer that balances the earthy warmth of turmeric with the bright sweetness of fresh fruit. Ready in just 20 minutes, this dish is perfect for hosting or as a light, protein-packed snack. The secret to this recipe is the glaze: the Hodo Golden Turmeric Lightly Fried Tofu is pan-seared and then tossed in a zesty mix of lime juice and agave, creating a caramelized finish that pairs beautifully with cool melon and aromatic basil.


Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz) Golden Turmeric Lightly Fried Tofu

    Locate Product

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 2 tbsp agave

  • ½ small cantaloupe

  • ½ small honeydew melon

  • ½ small pineapple

  • 15 basil leaves

  • 15 appetizer sized skewers

Instructions

  1. Slice the tofu along the score lines. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu and brown for 3-5 minutes.

  2. Add the lime juice and agave and stir to coat the tofu. Let cook another 3-5 minutes.

  3. Use a melon baller to scoop out balls of cantaloupe and honeydew melon. Slice the pineapple into bite sized pieces, similar in size to the melon balls.

  4. Assemble the skewers. Place 2 pieces of fruit, one basil leaf, and one tofu cube on each skewer.
