COMPANY STATEMENT
August 31, 2026, 10AM – Hodo, Inc. of Oakland, California is voluntarily recalling select production lots of Hodo Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu (8 oz, printed film packaging), UPC 850565007842, because printing ink from the product packaging may have migrated into the product.
The recalled product was distributed to wholesale distributors, retail locations, and directly to consumers in the following states from January 16, 2026 to July 16, 2026:
AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI
No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after Hodo observed discoloration during scale-up of a new product and promptly conducted additional testing of Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu in printed film packaging with apparent similar results. Hodo is continuing to investigate the cause. Based on currently available information, Hodo is evaluating whether chili oil and heat may have contributed to potential migration from the printed film packaging into the product.
Consumers who have any recalled product should not consume it. Consumers may return the product to the original place of purchase for a full refund or may visit this page to request a product voucher/coupon to redeem for a replacement product. Re: Voluntary recall of select production lots of Hodo Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu due to potential packaging ink migration
Hodo, Inc. is voluntarily recalling select production lots of Hodo Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu because printing ink from the product packaging may have migrated into the food product. Only the lots identified below are subject to this recall. No other Hodo products are included in this recall.
To date, Hodo is not aware of any reported illnesses, injuries, adverse health effects, or product-defect complaints associated with the affected product. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
AFFECTED PRODUCT

ACTIONS REQUIRED
Immediately examine inventory and identify all affected product within the lot/date range above.
Immediately stop sale, shipment, distribution, promotion, and use of affected product.
Quarantine/segregate affected product and clearly identify it as subject to recall pending further written disposition instructions from Hodo.
Do not sell, ship, distribute, use, return, destroy, rework, relabel, or otherwise dispose of affected product unless Hodo provides written instructions.
If you further distributed affected product, identify all downstream accounts, notify them promptly of this recall, instruct them to hold/quarantine affected product, and provide Hodo with downstream account names, contact information, quantities, lot/date codes, and notification dates.
Complete and return the attached Recall Response Form as soon as possible and no later than 3:00PM Pacific Time on Monday, August 10, 2026.
