Tofu Tikka Masala is a high-protein, plant-based twist on the classic Indian curry, featuring marinated tofu cubes simmered in a creamy, spiced tomato-based sauce.
This recipe uses Hodo Organic Extra Firm Tofu, crafted using traditional methods. Dense and ready to use straight from the package, it requires no pressing—just toss the cubes in oil and garam masala, then roast until the spices bloom. Ingredients
1-2 (10oz) blocks of Hodo Organic Extra Firm Tofu
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp garam masala spice blend (see *Note)
½ tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp Kashmiri red chili or sweet paprika
¼ tsp sea salt
½ can coconut milk
½ tsp Fenugreek leaves (optional)
¼ tsp sugar (optional)
½ cup frozen peas
Cilantro for garnish
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F. While the oven is preheating, cut the tofu into cubes, approximately 1 inch square.
In a medium bowl combine oil and spices. Add the tofu, toss together.
Place tofu on sheet pan, bake for 15 minutes, turning once. When slightly brown, remove and set aside.
In a saucepan, combine 1 jar Maya Kaimal Vegan Tikka Masala sauce, coconut milk, and fenugreek (if using). Bring to a gentle boil, add the tofu and peas. Simmer together for 5 minutes.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve over rice.
*Note: If you don’t have Garam Masala, use ¼ teaspoon each cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and black pepper.
